A Fragile Utopia:
Escaping the Elaborate Façade of Alcoholic Bliss
ABOUT

We live in a culture that trains us to believe that we can attain a healthy life in alcoholic bliss.
Many of us try to trick ourselves into believing that myth. The truth is that most perceived benefits of drinking are an elaborate façade we construct for ourselves and others. When alcohol becomes paramount, we’re often living in a fragile utopia. The walls are about to crumble.
My name is Nick Hanson. I’m sharing my journey to help change the alcohol narrative.

BOOK
Alcoholism, devastating secrets, festering resentments and dreams unrealized. This is what happened to one elder millennial 20 years after growing up on American Pie, the Real World and Limp Bizkit. The good news is, when we look inward, there is hope. If we own our flaws, there can be redemption.
I’ve combined stories about key eras of my life as they relate to my slowly accumulated disease along with a journal chronicling my journey through rehabilitation and early sobriety. The result is A Fragile Utopia: Escaping the Elaborate Façade of Alcoholic Bliss.
